4D Hosting Solutions

We offer a range of hosting services for both 4D developers and people wanting to host their 4D or 4D Webstar based solutions. We are able to host and provide application support for the entire 4th Dimension and 4D Webstar product range.

Our server packages come with no database application software included and so the customer has the option of installing and using their own licences. If this is not appropriate we are able to offer 4D software packs at an additional monthly charge. There are 4 main options although other solutions can be implemented and we would be willing to quote for these accordingly.

4D Backup Mirroring

In the world of high-availability servers, keeping regular up-to-date backups is increasingly important. 4D includes database mirroring functionality to allow you to keep a ready-to-run copy of your database on a separate machine. However, hosting a separate machine for this purpose can seem a little expensive. At StandingWave we are able to provide database mirroring without the need to rent another server.

Using mirroring, an exact copy of your database is stored on another server, so that in case of a major crash, the mirror server can be launched almost immediately. The mirror can be updated as frequently as you need, so if your application is modifying a lot of data, you could have it update the mirror as frequently as every ten minutes. However, even if you only update the mirror once a day, the log file can still be integrated to the mirror after a failure so that it is as up to date as the live datafile.
